Part of Beamish Open Air Museum, the Colliery is as close as you'll get to what life was like down in a Victorian Coal Mine. There are miners' houses, complete with caged canaries in the back gardens and for the braver visitors, it is possible to take a short walk down into one of the very dark mine shafts.

Great day out, yearly pass bought so repeat visits will be happening. Cant do it all in a day
